Deja aka Deja Vu has been doing hair since the tender age of 9 years old. With Over 20 years of hair styling experience and even with many advances in the elevation of natural hair; she still knew there was more to learn about curly hair than just braiding and styling. Coming from a childhood and early teen years of repeated braids with extensions, relaxers, and texturizers; she realized she had spent a whole lifetime not knowing something that had been a part of her body, head, and daily routine all of her life.. her own curly hair.

Although during those relaxer years her hair was “healthy for a relaxer”, she still experienced typical obstacles such as excess shedding, thinning, and declination

in overall hair integrity. After high school and over the next years; Deja went through several hair stages such as: tex-laxing, dried-out wash and gos, wigs, weaves and 2 Big Chops until the final one in 2018.

Finally At the age of 24, for the very first time in her life, Deja took the time to get to know, love, accept, and properly care for her natural hair. Like a neglected child, her hair seemed resistant and unfamiliar at first but slowly succumbed to the undeniable love and attention it was receiving. Through consistency, her hair took very little time to thrive ... until .. she gave birth at the end of 2019 and started experiencing PP shedding by 2020. This set-back actually forced her into the world of Indian and Herbal growth systems and not long after, she created the very first versions of her now “from the root” hair growth oil. In 2022, while experimenting with a “quick weave” hairstyle there was a glue accident that forced her to cut off about 4", leaving her with ear length hair. Whew! With her sides still in recovery and now 4 “gone, this catapulted her into taking a more disciplined and internal approach to hair growth. Soon, the realization of needing a hair schedule was born along with many other key elements of hair growth. 

By the end of 2024, within 2 years of cutting her hair ear length, her hair had grown bra strap length and was its thickest ever! What at first was an obstacle, quickly became an opportunity to answer 2 question she had been asking herself for a long time “Can my hair grow thicker? Is it possible for ME to grow waist-length hair?” She found out it is not only possible for her, but for many, many others as well! It wasn’t long before she found herself being asked daily for hair advice. It wasn’t long before conversations with family and friends about hair health began. It wasn’t long before the people she advised and serviced started experiencing hair transformations also. And it wasn’t long for her to realize the dire need to educate Afro Hair people about their Afro Hair... and soon, The Curl Regimen was born. Happy Growing! ~ Your Sister in Hair <3
